What This Skill Does

Checks every candidate, not just the easy one

Rates marketing, sales, product, operations, pricing, and strategy against the same facts, instead of blaming whichever function is most visible.

Grounds every rating in your own facts

Every "likely" or "unlikely" traces back to something you actually described, never a guess.

Names a real second cause when it exists

Flags a genuine secondary function instead of forcing a single tidy answer.

Stops at attribution, not a fix

Tells you who owns the issue; deciding what to do about it stays yours.

Best Used For

  • Sorting out whether a specific issue is really a marketing problem, or belongs somewhere else
  • Checking a gut instinct ("this feels like a marketing problem") against the actual facts
  • Making sure a real issue doesn't get assigned to the most visible department by default
  • A focused ownership check on one already-described symptom, before deciding who should fix it

How It Works

A specific business issue - deals lost to a competitor, flat traffic, reps saying leads feel low quality - tends to get attributed to whichever department is easiest to blame, and marketing is often the first name reached for since it's the most visible function. The same symptom can just as easily trace back to pricing, product fit, sales execution, operations, or a strategy mismatch.

This skill takes one already-named, specific issue and rates how likely each candidate function is to actually be its source - marketing, sales, product, operations, pricing, or strategy - using only the facts you describe. It names a primary function, and a genuine secondary one if the facts support it, with a plain note on what the attribution means.

You walk away with a grounded read on who actually owns the issue - never a fix, and never a rating of the marketing team's or agency's performance.
