A Trusted Name Whose Brand No Longer Matched Its Growth

Prior to the rebrand, hfco — then known as Haefele Flanagan — had built a strong reputation over decades for responsive, high-touch client service, expanding from a tax practice into a full-service advisory, audit, and accounting firm. Marketing had historically been under-resourced and therefore unable to focus on a growth strategy.

An internal due diligence review found the firm's digital presence rated fair to poor across organic search, content mix, and review sites, with visibility concentrated in tax content rather than the advisory services that made up a growing share of the business. Client interviews also surfaced that the firm's former name, Haefele Flanagan, was difficult to spell and remember — echoing a rebrand trend already underway among larger peer firms (e.g., Ernst & Young to EY, PricewaterhouseCoopers to PwC).

The firm needed a modern brand identity and website that reflected its advisory-first capabilities beyond audit and tax, a structured go-to-market plan to compete against larger firms and newly PE-backed consolidators, and an ongoing marketing partner to execute sector-based campaigns and report results against a defined set of KPIs.

Solving a Name and Positioning Problem First

The firm's brand no longer reflected its advisory-first, full-service capabilities, and its digital presence undersold what it actually offered.

Five Work Streams to Relaunch the Brand and Build Pipeline

The engagement moved from positioning through launch to a structured go-to-market and measurement plan:

01

Brand & Positioning Workshop

Conducted stakeholder interviews and a brand positioning workshop with firm leadership to define the new identity and the "Solutions through Listening" brand narrative.

02

Rebrand & Website Launch

Renamed the firm to hfco and designed and launched a new website on July 20, 2026, built around an advisory-first brand story.

03

Go-to-Market & Sector Strategy

Built a phased go-to-market plan prioritizing Nonprofit/NAAS, Family Business, and Valuation/M&A as Tier 1 sector-based campaigns.

04

Executive Influencer Program

Launched a LinkedIn executive influencer program for four firm leaders to build thought leadership and expand visibility beyond existing referral networks.

05

KPI Framework & Reporting

Established a structured KPI framework tracking organic traffic to sector pages, LinkedIn engagement, marketing-sourced MQLs, and AI-search visibility, with monthly strategic reporting to firm leadership.

hfco's flame-mark logo, formed from the positive space between two collaborators, over a vivid gradient background

hfco's logo is intentionally designed to express partnership, energy, and forward momentum through the interplay of positive and negative space. The flame-like negative spaces represent two collaborators: the client on the left and hfco on the right. The positive flame formed between them symbolizes the energy created when both work together — an expression of innovative collaboration that drives connection, inspiration, and meaningful impact. The outer circular form reinforces unity and confidence, representing hfco's commitment to standing alongside clients as a true partner throughout their growth journey.

The mark also subtly reflects the idea of guidance and transformation, positioning hfco as a catalyst that brings clarity to complexity and helps turn ambition into reality. To support recognition and approachability, the hfco name is presented in a shortened, lowercase format — a choice that signals a more personal, human-centered brand while maintaining a modern, contemporary feel. A vivid, energetic color palette reinforces the logo's sense of momentum and optimism.
